Dr. Gibbons is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and on staff at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Gibbons is the director of the Joslin Diabetes Center Neuropathy Clinic and is director of the Neurocutaneous skin biopsy lab at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is currently the Chair for the Autonomic Section of the American Academy of Neurology and President of the American Autonomic Society.

Dr. Gibbons is actively engaged in clinical/translational research and has published extensively on peripheral and autonomic neuropathies. His current areas of research include defining the mechanisms and pathophysiology underlying the development of neuropathy in diabetes.

Dr. Gibbons has received research funding through the NIH (NINDS), the Goldberg Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
